Blending Live Action and Digital worlds

After several years of creative partnerships, Spotify engaged the team at Vidico to produce a hybrid live-action/VFX campaign highlighting the cross-platform power of Spotify Video Ads – their most ambitious collaboration after a series of successful video and creative engagements.

The concept centred on a dreamlike cloud world that gradually bleeds into our main character’s reality.

To bring the idea to life, the team used a hybrid in-camera and VFX approach. A practical “cloud world” was handcrafted on set using Poly-Fil, paper lanterns, and Christmas lights, then digitally extended and enhanced in post-production to create a surreal, atmospheric environment.

Keith’s contribution focused on both creative and technical execution. He was involved in developing the concept and planning the practical production design, and served as the VFX supervisor on the shooting days. He also coordinated closely with Vidico’s remote post-production team across multiple time zones to achieve the final ethereal look and feel.

The finished piece showcases how practical filmmaking techniques and visual effects can work together to create a distinctive and immersive visual story.
