Away from his day job, KC Studio founder Keith is KC Castles.
KC Castles is a Tasmanian-born, Melbourne-based DJ and the co-founder of local queer party FADS. His DJ sets merge the joy and connection of 90s–00s house music with playful, unexpected, and delightfully sticky sounds.
Drawing inspiration from film, television, and video game soundtracks as much as from dance music, KC approaches DJing as both a practice of music curation and careful sound design. He blends house music with left-field and soundtrack-inspired elements, creating moments of melancholy, fun, and connection while guiding a cohesive journey through each set. Never totally serious and often slightly silly, he delights in discovering pathways between tracks that on paper shouldn’t mix, but in practice were made to be together.
KC has been thrilled to contribute to Naarm’s queer electronic music scene, curating, guiding, and growing FADS while also performing at major local events including BARBA, Midsumma Festival, Sunday School, Hell Yeah Chicago, and Cancelled Collective. Across all appearances, he brings the inventive, inclusive energy that has made FADS a welcome fixture on the city’s dance-floors.
